Required evidence for this competency includes a complete instructional design document, including all elements listed below.

Scope and Focus of the training or learning experience: One-to-three clearly stated Goals; each goal must include: 1) a clear description of the Performance Gap, 2) an identification of the Current Performance, 3) an identification of the Desired Performance, and 4) a clearly-stated Contrast and/or Description of the Distance between Current Performance and Desired Performance (for each stated goal).

A thorough Audience Analysis and Description, addressing each of the following with meaningful groupings and clearly-identified characteristics: 1) age, 2) prior, related education or training, 3) socio-economic make-up, 4) key demographic information, 5) highest level of education, and 6) any beliefs that may impact or influence training, such as faith, philosophy, political affiliation, etc.

Design Time and Milestones, including: 1) Time frame for development, including all key components, 2) Feedback, and 3) Description and timeline of potential Piloting Phase. ALSO Length & Scheduling of Course or Training, including 1) Date(s) of Course or Training & 2) Duration of Course or Training

Delivery mode of delivery, interaction, and feedback. Identification and description of the Performance Gap: Includes a clear identification of the Current Performance, Desired Performance, & the difference between Current/Desired Performance. A detailed description of what closing the Performance Gap looks like, with attention to the audience, context, and organization. Content and a description of “what was created or included” and “why” for resources, materials, & assessments.

A minimum of at least three objectives related to the goal(s) for the training, each must: 1) Be correctly labeled as either Learning Objective or Performance Objective, and 2) account for Audience, Behavior, Conditions, and Degree.

Materials: Includes a complete outline of all materials, resources, lesson plans, schedule, assessments, timelines for facilitation of the training or learning experience, and evaluations.

A complete list of all Stakeholders, including (for each): Name of the individual, title held within the organization, and a description of the type of role, including all responsibilities related specifically to the ID project.

Topical Outline, including: A total of no more than five topics or modules, and any related sub-topics.

A description of the Administration and Evaluation plan, including: A brief Communications Plan that describes: Mode, Timeline, Key Players or Stakeholders, and Marketing Plan (for any non-mandatory trainings).

Appendix, including all materials used within the training and not included elsewhere within the design document.
