Part of the Wellness Counseling Certificate, this class examines both food addiction & emotional eating, and how they relate to the obesity epidemic, focusing on scientific evidence that continues to indicate that both concepts are here to stay. Emotional eating has been referred to by experts in the field as being prevalent in up to 3/4 of cases of overweight and obesity, and in 2016, The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse Released a Novel Report on Food Addiction.

Assist in teaching chronic dieters by offering practical strategies to help break the yo-yo dieting cycle.

Assist clients in the process of improving upon situations where they feel "controlled" by foods.

Help clients to minimize concerns related to social and cultural influences on body weight.
