At Level 1, the IBM Certified Architect, at times with supervision, provides ideas and direction, creates solution architectures, makes architectural decisions, ensures risk mitigation and contributes to client stakeholder satisfaction.

Earning Criteria

This individual achieved L1 Experienced Certification validation by the profession Subject Matter Experts (SME)s that they are able to integrate multiple elements of either business or IT architecture successfully in order to develop, correct and complete solutions to meet the client’s identified business problems.
This individual selects and uses a range of architectural tools, methods and modelling techniques to identify the client’s requirements and to design an appropriate solution. They communicated the architectural decisions in support of their recommended design and developed architectures that could be validated to meet the business requirement.
This individual uses IBM Architectural Thinking and methods learned in the required education core within the IBM Architect Profession.
This individual has enhanced and maintained IBM's technical vitality through mentoring others (required) and other forms of give back including the development of IC/IP, enablement assets, publications, technical presentations and ongoing participation in the Profession such as serving as candidate application reviewers or other special assignments.
