Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP®)
Earners of the CDIP® are knowledgeable and competent in providing guidance relative to clinical documentation in patient health records: exhibit leadership skills in promoting CDI efforts, team management and CDI project management; providing high level of skills in working with providers to clarify POA, HAC and PSI; skilled in the development of policies and procedures related to query practices and overall CDI systems; knowledgeable in assigning ICD-10-CM/PCS, DRG or HCPCS codes.
What it takes to earn this badge
Score a passing grade on the Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP®) exam
Must complete one of the following to be eligible for the exam:
Complete Associate’s degree or higher and three years of experience in clinical documentation improvement (candidates must also have completed coursework in Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology)
