This advanced writing (Writing Level 2) course is designed to provide students with a more in-depth understanding of the principles of writing. Students learn to develop topic sentences and to organize their thoughts and ideas into well-constructed paragraphs and short essays.

Students will be able to: 1. Correctly identify the important parts of a paragraph; 2. Write an effective topic sentence that contains a topic and a controlling idea; 3. Effectively use transition words to organize information in a paragraph; 4. Write an effective concluding sentence; 5. Use editing strategies to correct and revise work; and 6. Develop writing pieces using the Writing Process.
