The earner of this badge has attended and participated in a school administrator preparation module on skills for addressing legal and policy matters for school leaders. The module provides an overview of the legal framework for public education, policy governance, ethical considerations for educational leaders, diversity, equity, and inclusion and student discipline, student and teacher rights, responsibilities, and potential liability, as well as students with disabilities and discrimination.
Standards
The NELPS outline the knowledge and skills that a well-prepared beginning school administrator should have upon successfully completing a preparation program. The NELPS are comprised of eight standards with subsequent components that provide detailed context and clarification for each overarching standard.
