Through attendance in an instructor-led faculty workshop designed to show faculty how to educate students, this badge earner has demonstrated the ability to use a Big Data platform & data governance concepts to efficiently store and manage extremely large amounts of data, using IBM BigInsights. This individual has demonstrated an understanding of topics such as Apache Hadoop, Ambari, and Spark, Big SQL, Big R, Text Analytics, HDFS, YARN, MapReduce, ZooKeeper, Knox, Sqoop, and HBase.
What it takes to earn this badge
Must be a faculty member of a Higher Education Institution which has or is implementing the IBM Skills Academy Program.
Completion of Module I - Data Management Overview: Covering Data overview, Industry Applications, Case Studies; and Understanding Big Data.
Completion of Module II - Big Data Foundations: Covering Linux/Unix Essentials; RDBMS/SQL Essentials; Programming Essentials; Data Formats, Security, Governence, and Movement; and Networking Skills Basics.
Completion of Module III - Data Scientist: Covering Introduction to Big Data and IBM BigInsights; Introduction to Apache Hadoop, Ambari & Spark; HDFS, MapReduce & YARN; Storing & Accessing Data; Using Big SQL to access HDFS data; Querying Hadoop data using Big SQL; Administering & managing Big SQL tables; Data federation using Big SQL; Discovering data with expressions, formulas, and functions; Integrating with Big SQL; Task Analysis; and AQL.

Passed the Data Scientist academic practice test.
