Earning Criteria

Must be an IBM employee.

Design Principals are appointed by the Design Leadership Board based on the following criteria:

• Leads design in a business unit, service line, portfolio, and/or studio, driving business and community growth.

• Thought leader with external industry eminence and influence at the IBM division level.

• Broad scope across and significant impact across multiple products or major client engagements within a business unit, including strategic thinking, creative or design direction, and technical design execution.

• Practitioner with strong "T-shaped" design skills and a sustained level of achievement.

• Drives an organization's utilization of design and design thinking, and contributes to developing IBM's design practices, initiatives, technical vitality, and reputation.
