Fitness for Wellness and Disease Prevention Course (v.01)

Part of the Wellness Counseling Certification, students who have earned this badge will have acquired the knowledge and skills to help their clients focus on improving well-being, health and physical fitness. Types of physical activity and the overall effect they have on the body will be discussed.  Students will learn about lifestyle related diseases, their prevalence and associated healthcare cost.  Also addressed is obesity in children and adolescents.

What it takes to earn this badge

  • Effectively assist in developing age-appropriate activities that instill the values of physical exercise in clients.
  • Assist with the teaching of principles that boost energy levels in clients for long-term weight loss success.
  • Address weight management by going beyond exercise recommendations.
  • Assist in the teaching of practical weight loss strategies and techniques for overweight children and adolescents.
  • Achieve an 80% or above on the final project.
  • Must earn at least 80% of the total class points.
