Madison School Nurse Assistant Course
Preparing to assist the school nurse in running and maintaining a School Health Office, consistent with Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) guidelines. Required if not licensed as a LPN or RN who is considering applying for a job as a nursing assistant (NA) with MMSD. Helpful for LPNs and RNs considering working as NAs.
What it takes to earn this badge
Demonstrate the proper procedure to conduct a vision and hearing screen; administer an inhaler, EpiPen, Auvi-Q and Glucagon; and check vitals (heart rate, respiration rate, & temperature.)
Know the procedure for accepting and administering medications per Madison Metropolitan School District Health Guidelines.
Demonstrate how to collect history and do an exam for basic injuries and illnesses.
Demonstrate entry level knowledge of a range of common acute and chronic childhood illnesses, and injuries.
Know how to keep accurate records of contact with students and/or their families.
Obtain 50+ points throughout the duration of the class.
