Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to review structure and bonding from general chemistry before introducing organic molecules and functional groups. Students study alkanes & cycloalkanes, stereochemistry, reactions, alkyl halides, alkenes, alkynes and spectroscopy through mass spectrometry, infrared spectrometry, and nuclear magnetic resonance.
