The course introduces students to the microbial world, particularly how microbes interact with humans and the environment. Students will study the symbiotic relationship with microbes, pathogenic microorganisms and their role in human disease, human immunology, viruses, microbial metabolism, and biotechnology. StraighterLine does suggest tthat students complete Introduction to Biology for Nonmajors (BIO101) and Anatomy and Physiology I and II (BIO201/BIO202) prior to enrolling in this course.
