The course introduces students to the microbial world, including how microbes interact with humans and the environment. Students study the symbiotic relationship with microbes, pathogenic microorganisms and their role in human disease, human immunology, viruses, microbial metabolism, and biotechnology. Laboratory experience is provided through interactive lab simulations and at home lab experiments. StraighterLine suggest students complete (BIO101L) and (BIO201L/BIO202L) prior to enrolling.

The methods of instruction include audio visual materials, laboratory, practical exercises, computer-based training, multimedia online lesson presentations, video and other web-based resources, practice problems and exercises, review activities, reading assignment, and access up to 10 hours of tutoring.
