Foundations of Spanish Translation

Earners of the Micro-Credential will have demonstrated basic skills for translating documents of a professional nature from English into Spanish. Earners learn advanced Spanish language skills; the morphological and syntactical differences between English and Spanish; translation theories and methods; key source texts to develop translations; and the ethics, processes, and work expectations of professional translation. They will be able to complete professional level translations.

Earning Criteria

Earners must complete ML 2110, Intermediate Spanish II, with a grade of B or better.

Earners must complete ML 3362, Advanced Spanish Grammar and Composition, with a grade of B or better.

Earners must complete ML 3200, Translation Workshop, with a grade of B or better.

Earners must complete ML 4201, Seminar in Translation Techniques, with a grade of B or better.
