This micro-credential, offered by The Department of Learning and Instruction, is designed to prepare literacy professionals in education with the knowledge and skills to perform the role of an elementary or secondary literacy coach. Students will develop foundational knowledge of literacy, diversity and equity to design, implement and evaluate literacy curriculum and instruction, and demonstrate the ability to support teachers and students through leadership and coaching.

Earning Criteria

Successful completion of four courses for a total of eleven credits: LAI 551, LAI 552, LAI 557, LAI 652. Learners also need to provide written feedback to another teacher on their literacy teaching and a written reflection on their understanding of the role of a literacy coach.
